SUBSURFACE ANALYSIS
 |
Soil Tests |
A competent soil
investigation is imperative for any structure. Soil movement is the cause
of the majority of structural problems in buildings. While a soil test
will cost only a very small fraction of the overall construction budget of a
project, the ramifications of a structurally distressed building due to soil
movement can cost in the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Eve ry
report will be based on project specific information, meaning that the
foundation recommendations can save a significant amount of money in material
and labor costs, as opposed to “rule of thumb” engineering. We can give
alternative recommendations so that you are completely satisfied with your
foundation requirements. Our standard soil tests provide on-site boring data as
well as gradation, density, moisture content, and swell/consolidation
information from laboratory testing. We can also provide Atterberg limit
testing, hydrometer analysis, and permeability testing depending upon your needs
and the requirements of the city or county in which you are building.

Percolation Tests |
Percolation testing is required by counties where an
individual septic system is needed for residences and businesses. This testing
allows information about how quickly water will pass through the soil at a
site. “Percs” provide the septic system designer the parameters they need,
including percolation rates, on-site soil data, and Atterberg limits if
required.

Slope Stability Analysis
Slope
stability analysis is critical at sites where the
grade rises or falls quickly. Most sites have stable soils, but, as excavation
is performed, the slopes may become unstable, endangering work
crews as well as future owners. Performance of slope remediation prior
to soil movement costs much less than after problems arise. We also supply shoring letters in conformance with OSHA
standards for excavations.
